Free Insurance for Members!?
What!? Did she just say, "free insurance for members?"
Yes! SCASL has teamed up with American Income Life insurance company to offer some insurance coverage for all active members.
The SCASL Information Technology Committee is sponsoring a contest for all members who use our website! Each month (September through February) the names of the 5 most active users of the SCASL website will be entered into a drawing. At conference, we will draw 1 winner who will receive a $25 Amazon gift card! The more you log in and use the website, the better your chances are of winning. And, of course, the more you use the website, the more useful information and ideas you'll find!
As we head into another school year, it is time to review the SCASL-LS Discussion List Guidelines. If you are a new or returning member of this list-serv, please take a few minutes to remind yourself of the guidelines. Remember to NEVER share passwords on the list-serv (including DISCUS).
A historic day for SCASL is upon us!
The Executive Board presents for your approval this slate of candidates for 2014-2015. You will be able to vote on this slate at the business meeting to be held Thursday, March 13, 2014, during the SCASL Annual Conference. We have TWO candidates for SCASL President Elect! This means members will be using a ballot vote to select a President Elect! Ballots will be available for pick up beginning 8:30 am on Thursday morning. You will have until the end of the General Business Meeting to cast your ballot. Results will be announced on Friday, March 14th at the Author Luncheon.

SCASL is providing funding for media specialist presentations at SC educational conferences during the 2013-1014 school year to advocate for teacher/librarian collaboration, reading programs, and other benefits of school library programs. The funds available may be used to pay for expenses including registration and one night hotel stay (maximum $250). Media Specialists may apply for one SC Conference Presentation Mini Grant per SCASL membership year.
We have awarded two mini grants this year (June 2013- July 2014), and have three more grants to give out!
