Teaching Civil Rights in SC Using TPS

  • Sponsored through a 2017 Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS). Grant awarded to USC SLIS, SCASL, SC DOE, USC COE, USC Digital Libraries, and Follett School Solutions.
  • The LOC TPS grant provides free registration (lunch included) for middle and high schoolSCASL members and one accompanying classroom teacher from their schools.

  • Institute participants will learn about Civil Rights era primary sources available through the Library of Congress and how to use them in their libraries and classrooms.

  •  SCASL school librarians and teacher teams will receive a $150 stipend ($75 each) for creating a civil rights lesson plan and/or Weebly.
